What Is This?

One guy's attempt to put things in perspective. To reflect on the good and the bad, the sad and the mad. And hopefully, to laugh at it all.

Dieting sucks.

I skipped breakfast, only because I woke up at ten and was out to lunch at noon. I had a, what did they call it? Lexington Duo? I don't know. A half scoop of chicken salad and a half scoop of tuna salad over lettuce. A cup of tomato bisque. Half an english muffin with butter on it. Dinner consisted of roast turkey (kinda bland), mixed veggies, a slice of bread, and applesauce.

Throughout my life I've managed to work out consistently, not smoke, or eat healthy. Never all three at the same time. The plan works something like this:

6-8AM: Wake up. Eat breakfast. Clean house.
30 minutes later: bathroom break. Brush & floss. Groom. Take pills.
10 minutes later: Make some tea to go.
Then: Go to the gym.
10-Noon: Haul other people around town. bring a book, a notepad, and a pen.
Noon: lunch. Find useful thing to do with wooden clothes pegs.
Noon - 3PM: pay bills, check the job market, make some phone calls.
3PM - 11 PM: Work (or visit friends/write/learn something)
11PM - 1AM: Work out
1:25: Practice wolfman howl/write something
1:30 - 2: Bed

The above itinerary is at once amendable and unbreakable. The fun for you, I think, will be seeing whether I manage to stick somewhat to the plan or diverge and find myself reviewing Star Wars for the ten thousandth time.

Now, I am in downtime mode, which presently consists of writing to you and listening to music..... Satellite by POD at the moment, in case you were wondering.

I have had yet another musical epiphany as well. I realized, while I am perfectly content to don the headphones and the music flows and seeps into the seams of my life (yeah, the glove fits dammit), that if this same music were blared from loudspeakers that filled the sky from Cabo to Beijing, then there would be mass discord, confusion, and angst. It might even be apocalyptic. And I don't think I would enjoy it as much.........the music, that is). It wouldn't feel so much like it belongs to me. No, no. Wouldn't want to push anything I like on another soul. Should you come around to my way of thinking, however, I'll be impressed.

I found three more songs to demote: Champagne by Cavo, Lucky Man by the Verve, and Hell Song by Sum 41. Not bad songs, but..........axed all the same.

I am still in Chicago, by the way. I heard earlier that we are supposed to get 6-10 inches tonight. Then I heard 10 to 20 (snow, man, SNOW). At this rate I am going to be snow shoe-ing it home. I could have my aunt's dog's tow the car and the couch I'm supposed to be bringing back. I think I am a prime candidate to receive one of those car-planes? Have you seen those things? They run on automobile fuel, can fly 400 miles, and then be driven another 400 miles, or something like that. The Volkswagen Bug is no longer the most distinctive car on the road, it appears.
